Wed, 15 October 2008 "PARTY
LIKE IT'S 1929" (VIDEO) by "Loose Bruce" Kerr is a parody of
Prince's "1999," about the country's current fiscal crisis. While
Prince's 1982 original spoke of the end of days way off in the future
(way off in 1999), Bruce's parody speaks of the end of days
happening...RIGHT NOW! At least it seems like it, with Republicans
calling for government takeovers of private banks. Who'd have predicted
that would ever happen. Lenin, anyone? Feels like...like...1929.Hear/download the AUDIO on this podcast site in mp3, either STEREO or MONO (particularly for AM radio). Thu, 20 December 2007 l"THE BALLAD OF WOODY & MIA" -VIDEO parody by Loose Bruce Kerr re Woody Allen & Mia Farrow. This is a new video of Bruce's 1992 parody song which parallels the media saturation regarding Woody Allen's breakup with Mia Farrow and his affair with her adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn. Woody & Soon-Yi are still together but at the time the story broke, the nation was divided between those who saw the relationship of 60 year old Allen and 25 year old Previn as true love conquering all and those who saw it as improper, even immoral. The parody song was played many times in '92 & '93 on the Dr. Demento and Jim Bohannon radio shows, and was featured on a "basement tapes" edition of Dr. Demento's. The background parts were recorded by Bruce one-at-a-time and mixed down from his 4-track cassette deck, including multiple overdubs of Bruce playing "vocal trumpets." This video has Bruce singing live and playing his Les Paul electric guitar over his old background tracks. A year after first recording this parody song, Bruce resumed his career as a lawyer which he had put on hold for 20 years to record and perform music. He continues to record audios and videos of his parodies and originals while holding down his day job as a lawyer for Sun Microsystems in Northern California's Silicon Valley. email Bruce at <BKerrLaw@aol.com> Comments[0] |
